About the author

Shannon Dudley is an assistant professor of ethnomusicology at the University of Washington, Seattle. His publications include several articles in the journal Ethnomusicology. As a steel pan player, Dudley has performed with a number of bands in Trinidad and has also performed and recorded in the U.S. with well-known steelband artists Ray Holman, Boogsie Sharpe, Andy Narell, and Pan Ramajay. He directs the University of Washington steelband, and performs in the Seattle area.
