Epistemology has traditionally been motivated by a desire to respond to skeptical challenges. Traditional theories of knowledge offer responses to the skeptic which fail to draw on the resources of the sciences. Hilary Kornblith is Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has written widely on topics in epistemology and related areas of philosophy of mind and metaphysics.
