Confidence using maths

“A-level maths was a lot of repetition, whereas university maths and statistics was about applying all the theory to real life scenarios and it was sometimes difficult to see how to apply things correctly.”
Carmen Tong, University of Nottingham

“When I started university I found stats difficult to grasp as I had never come against it before.”
Nicholas Jones, Swansea University

You're studying science not maths, right? It can come as a very unwelcome surprise to science students that they have to take maths modules as part of their course. Even if you’re fairly confident in your maths skills, learning to apply them to your subject of study can be daunting. But don’t worry, there are books out there that take the pain out of maths and support you right through to graduation.
