Strategy: Theory, Practice, Implementation

According to a recent paper published in Academy of Management Learning & Education, existing strategy textbooks “may not be providing students with sufficient opportunity to understand the human complexity of implementation and to appreciate that in practice; strategy does not obey a predictable and rational linear logic” (Lindsay 2018).

With Strategy: Theory, Practice, Implementation, publishing February 2020, we set out to address this head on. Over the coming months we’ll be showing you how Strategy’s pedagogical features encourage students to think, talk, and act like a strategist, focusing throughout on implementation in the real world.

This month, we are offering an exclusive preview of a Practitioner Insight video from Strategy: Theory, Practice, Implementation.

This is your opportunity to sample this feature from Strategy's online resource centre. Each Pratitioner Insight found in the textbook is accompanied by a video interview with the practitioner. These help students grasp the complex reality of strategic management in practice and offer additional insights and advice to the written feature, including tips for job interviews and CV writing.

Watch the Practitioner Insight video interview with Dr Sam Smith, CEO at C-Change, below.

Please note, this is only a clip taken from the full video that will be made available in the online resources upon publication.
