Rolland Trapp, Professor of Mathematics, California State University, San Bernardino
Rolland Trapp is professor of mathematics at California State University, San Bernardino. He's been an educator for 25 years, and received his PHD from Columbia in 1990. His research endeavours have focused around knot theory and geometric structures for link complements. He's been actively involved in undergraduate research having co-directed a Research Experiences for Undergraduates for 16 years, and being the principal investigator for a 5-year program intended to recruit students to STEM disciplines through early research experiences. He received the College of Natural Sciences "Excellence in Teaching" award at CSUSB in 2016
"[the book] covers the basic topics of calculus with functions of several variables with an original presentation that insists more on calculus and geometric interpretations than on theoretical details. It will certainly be very useful for students and for anyone looking for a first introduction to multivariable calculus. Reading it is a pleasure." - Julià Cufí, zbMath
"Multivariable Calculus is, in my view, extremely well written and an all-round superb book from which students of mathematics and the physical sciences can gain an excellent understanding of the subject. The exposition is relaxed and informal, reading more like a conversation in parts...the choice of narrative style will, I imagine to a wide target audience and ensure as far as possible that the book remains accessible for all." - James Christian Cmath, FIMA, University of Salford, Mathematics Today
