E-books and digital publishing

At Oxford University Press we’re committed to providing our broad range of higher educational resources in the formats that best suit teaching and learning methods.

We work hard to develop and invest in digital products that will enable students to study more effectively, academics to teach more easily, and institutions to offer more support.

Our objective is to make our resources available as widely as possible to those who need them to study, that’s why the various resources listed on this page are available for both individual students and institutions to purchase.

As an academic press we’re confident our priorities align with yours; to get these resources into the hands of students at the point of need. Our sales team is committed to working constructively with anyone, from any institution, to fulfil this mission in a way that is fair and sustainable to everyone.

We want to ensure that the resources you wish to adopt are accessible for the entire student cohort. Requests for resources in alternative formats for use by students with impairments should be made by the institution to our accessibility resources team. Find out more. Our website collections and online study tools have their own accessibility statements, usually found in the footer of the website.

If you are a teacher, or involved provision of resources, and would like to discuss what e-book or digital options are available to your undergraduate students - including bulk purchase, integration with learning management systems, or simply to assist delivery of your course -  please feel free to contact your publisher representative in the first instance.

Website collections

Our Law Trove and Politics Trove websites contain subject collections of our textbooks from across our market-leading law list, and politics list.

Intuitive functionality, powerful navigation and search, and supportive features enhance the learning experience; whilst access to a range of titles encourages wider reading.

Find out more about Law Trove and Politics Trove including the collections available, and site functionality.

Purchase options:

Students can purchase access to subject collections directly from www.oup.com, from £45. Institutions can purchase access for all students, from one subject module to the complete collection.

All institutional purchases are fully supported by an OUP partnership consultant who will offer training and implementation advice, as well as ongoing support including analytics.

E-books

All our textbooks designed for use as core reading on undergraduate courses now publish simultaneously in print and as e-books. The e-books typically offer a mobile experience with the convenience of anywhere, anytime access. Some e-books are being developed to take the format further and offer students a fully immersive learning experience, packed with self-assessment activities and multi-media content. Talk to your publisher representative during your adoption decision making process to check format and availability.

Purchase options:

Our e-books typically cost less than the print equivalent and are available for students to purchase on perpetual access, or for a 12 month rental. Our e-books are available to students directly from VitalSource and Kortext.

We are expanding our list of vendors but choose to work with e-book providers who offer the best user-experience both in terms of purchase options, as well as functionality and presentation of our content.

Typical functionality includes compatibility with a range of devices, notetaking and highlighting tools, mobile friendly presentation, and assistive technology for those with impairments. We are investing in our digital products and continually adding assessment activities and multimedia content to offer a fully immersive experience and offer extra learning support.

Academics or acquisition librarians who wish to purchase access to one or more textbooks for their students have more options available and should contact their publisher representative to discuss the best format and deal to suit their requirements and budgets. We can offer reduced prices for institutional wide access, so do ask us for a quotation.

Digital inspection copies:

Most of our inspection copies are now fulfilled as e-books where possible. Academics who wish to discuss the formats available, before placing their order can do so by contacting their representative. Digital inspection copies are delivered via the VitalSource, Kortext, or BibliU platforms.

Online study tools

Most of our textbooks are accompanied by online study tools and resources designed to add value. These resources are written by the author of the textbook, or in collaboration with them, they are tied closely to the book to offer a meaningful learning experience.

Typical student resources include self-testing tools, flashcards, updates, videos, and study advice.

Access options:

If you are using a digital product such as an e-book, or Law Trove or Politics Trove you'll probably find that any accompanying study tools are embedded or hyperlinked.

If you choose to use a printed textbook, the study tools can be accessed on their own site: online resources. If a textbook has online resources you'll find the url and access details in the book.

If, as an academic, you are looking to embed these resources into your learning management systems contact your representative to discuss the most straightforward way of doing this.

Some books are supported by lecturer-only resources and require a simple validation and registration before they can be accessed. These protected resources can be used for student testing, and classroom preparation.

You can find out more about the resources, access and integration into your learning management system here.
