First OUP careers fair supports employee development
01 October 2019
On 30 September we held the first internal careers fair for employees at our Oxford office. The event involved teams from around the business coming together to share information on available jobs and career paths.
OUP has three divisions—Education, Academic, and English Language Teaching (ELT)—as well as our central functions and operations. This means that there are a wide range of job types and possible career paths open to those who work with us; from technology, sales, editorial, and content development roles, to business management, marketing, and operations positions amongst others.
The fair aimed to spotlight different ways to grow and progress within the company, whether that be to explore the breadth of career opportunities available at OUP, sign up to take part in job shadowing, or just find out about what other people's job roles entailed.
Alongside the job stands, discussions covered topics such as 'Developing a Growth Mindset' and 'How to Network’, while workshops offered employees the chance to hone interview skills, get professional headshots taken, and refine their CVs.
Speaking about the event, OUP’s Global Talent Acquisition Director Jamie Stuart said: ‘The support from colleagues across OUP was amazing, from the representatives on the stands, to our photographers, videographers, workshop panellists and session leads. It felt like a great team effort and most importantly the anecdotal feedback from colleagues around Oxford was really positive, with lots of productive conversations and actions. Thanks to everyone who helped in running the day and to all those who attended.’
