Encouraging students to learn independently
Working independently represents a significant part of what makes advanced and higher level study so different to GCSE. Writing longer essays, keeping to deadlines and the amount of research and reading expected requires a different skill set.
Developing study practices
Study Skills for AS/A Level Kerboodle will help your students to develop the broad range of academic skills needed for success at advanced level. The online teaching and learning resources provide the support you need to create a study skills programme which will help your students to:
· adjust to the increased challenges they are presented with at A level
· take more responsibility for their success and learn not to rely on being spoon-fed
· manage their own learning and learn to prioritise what is important
· take control of their studies with confidence.
The Kerboodle course includes detailed teacher notes, PowerPoint presentations and glossaries for front of class teaching as well as worksheets and activities students can access from home or school – ideal for independent study.
Study Skills for AS/A Level is also available as a series of iBooks Textbooks for iPad. Covering Academic writing, Critical thinking, Wider reading, Research, Note taking and Time management, these interactive books are also particularly relevant for those studying for International A Levels, an Extended Project Qualification or International Baccalaureate.
Preparing for University Level Study
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) has become popular with UK schools as a means of helping A Level students get ready for the challenges of degree level study. With a Student Companion and Supervisor Support File, our EPQ series provides all the support you and your students need for the AQA Extended Project Qualification, from proposal through to final submission.
Study Skills for AS/A Level Kerboodle will help your students to develop the broad range of academic skills needed for success at advanced level, and is particularly relevant for those studying an EPQ.
