The Numicon Intervention Programme has been developed to support Every Child Counts but is applicable to any school interested in maths intervention for 6-11 year olds. the intervention lasts 12 weeks, with 2 or 3 lessons a week, depending upon pupils' needs.

This course, delivered over 5 sessions, is specifically designed for those who will be delivering the programme to the children.

Course requirements and Costs 

Overall cost for the course £433.50 this is broken down as follows

  • Course - 5 live digital sessions - £198
  • Numicon Intervention Programme Manual - £25.50
  • Online subscription to Numicon Intervention programme (3 years £70 per year) - £210

Please contact your Local Education Consultant to discuss and purchase the resources and subscription ahead of the training to ensure that you are fully equipped and ready to begin as soon as the course begins. 

Please note that the Manual and the Subscription are the main part of the programme, these provide you with all the resources, processes, procedures and lessons that are required to be able to implement the Intervention programme within your school, without these you will not be able to complete the course and carry out the Intervention Programme in the classroom.

  • Introducing the Numicon resources and Numicon approach
  • What works for Intervention?
  • Roles and Responsibilities of the Numicon Intervention Programme (NIP)
  • The NIP assessment process
  • Teaching the Intervention lessons
  • Calculating using the Numicon approach - Addition and subtraction
  • Calculating using the Numicon approach - multiplication, division and fractions

Regional Training - on hold until further notice

This 2-day course is for head teachers, SENCOs, subject leaders and local authority maths/learning support teams. Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be accredited to facilitate onsite training for support staff and teachers in their own settings.

The Numicon Intervention Programme has been developed to support Every Child Counts, but is applicable to any school interested in maths intervention for 6-11 year olds. the intervention lasts 12 weeks, with 2 or 3 lessons a week, depending upon pupils' needs. Designed to be conducted by trained TAs and a supporting teacher, the training is provided by:

  • Numicon consultants; or,
  • Head teachers, deputy head teachers, assistant head teachers or maths subject leaders accredited to facilitate onsite training for support staff and teachers in their schools - having successfully completed this 2-day training
