This report provides an overview of Ofsted’s reports Good Practice in Primary Mathematics: Evidence from 20 Successful Schools (2011) and Mathematics: Made to Measure (2012). It is written to help you reflect on your school’s approach to teaching number and calculation. In particular, the ‘Action Points’ and ‘Key Questions’ will help you assess the teaching of calculation and the development of children’s capacity to solve problems in your school.
