Read Write Inc.: Brompton-Westbrook Primary School

Brompton-Westbrook Primary School is large school with a number of children are from Armed Forces families. In November 2010 when Brompton-Westbrook took on the full range of Read Write Inc. programmes, they had just been graded Satisfactory by Ofsted. Two years later and after implementing Read Write Inc. Phonics, Comprehension (now called Literacy and Language) and Fresh Start, the school was graded Good by Ofsted. In 2010 just 8% of children achieved level 3 in their KS1 reading. Read Write Inc.: Aberdare Park Primary School

Aberdare Park Primary School is large school, with high FSM and low EAL. In September 2010, the school implemented the full range of Read Write Inc. programmes – Phonics, Fresh Start, Comprehension, Comprehension Plus (now called Literacy and Language) and Spelling. The impact on pupil progress has been dramatic and has risen year on year. Level 2+ reading and writing results at the end of Key Stage 1 are now 93%. Level 4 results at the end of Key Stage 2 are now 100%. In April 2011, Estyn were positive about the phonic teaching in the Foundation Phase. Read Write Inc.: Great Yarmouth Primary Academy

Great Yarmouth Primary Academy is a large school with high FSM situated on the coast . The school came out of special measures just two months after implementing Read Write Inc. Ofsted praised the approach to assessment and grouping used in the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme stating that: “In the new daily hour with structured teaching of sounds and letters (systematic phonics) and writing, pupils are grouped by what they know and understand rather than by how old they are.
