The Jurisprudence of the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal

An Analysis of the Decisions of the Tribunal

George H. Aldrich

After the Iranian revolution in 1979, the Iranian government seized the US Embassy and US assets in Iran, creating a rift between the US and Iran which led to the expulsion and expropriation of US property. The US retaliated by freezing all Iranian assets in America, including funds held in US banks. This book charts the work of the Iran-US Claims Tribunal, established in the wake of this breakdown of relations.
