John Barton is the Oriel and Laing Professor of the Interpretation of the Holy Scripture at the University of Oxford. Barton's research interests include Biblical Ethics, Canon, Biblical Interpretation, and Old Testament Theology. His recent publications include "The Theology of Amos" in Prophecy and the Prophets in Ancient Israel and "The Dark Side of God in the Old Testament" in Ethical and Unethical in the Old Testament: God and Humans in Dialogue.
