Kinship Foster Care

Policy, Practice, and Research

Rebecca L. Hegar and Maria Scannapieco

Child Welfare: A Series in Child Welfare Practice, Policy, and Research

As kinship foster care has become a significant part of the continuum of child welfare services, the professional literature has expanded, primarily in social work and child welfare journals. However, no previous book has gathered interprofessional thinking about foster care into one volume to provide an overview of the service. The editors of Kinship Foster Care: Policy, Practice and Research invited prominent researchers, policy analysts and advocates, and practice specialists to contribute chapters dealing their work and thinking concerning kinship foster care. As a group, their published articles account for a large share of the previously available literature on the subject. In contributing to this book, this interprofessional group on experts was invited to bring together their work and thoughts concerning the three topics of kinship care policy, practice and research. The editors, Rebecca L. Hegar and Maria Scannapieco have contributed the initial and concluding chapters of the book.
