Description
Gloss could be considered a companion piece to Random Girl (also for oboe and vibraphone), although it is rhythmically more formal and more restrained melodically.

Programme Notes:
Gloss for oboe and vibraphone was commissioned by New Noise and composed early in 2011. It follows Random Girl of 2003 but might have been written ten years earlier, being, rhythmically, more formal and, melodically, more restrained. Each instrument finds its own way of evoking space.
