These research sequences use a wide variety of techniques for embryo preparation, optics, filming, and time compression. They range from a classic film made in the 1940s to sequences obtained using computer-enhanced video microscopy and digital image processing. Sponsored by the Society for Developmental Biology, this videotape compiles superior footage of development, filmed by the researchers who work most closely with each particular species. This video will be useful for any level course in developmental biology, from introductory embryology to graduate seminars on molecular aspects of development. All royalties from the sale of this tape go to the Society for Developmental Biology to support future educational initiatives.
