Virtual Library of Virginia Inks Deal
for Oxford Digital Content

Released on May 8, 2015

New York, NYOxford University Press (OUP) announced it is working with institutions affiliated with the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA) to deliver scholarly content via Oxford Scholarship Online (OSO) to students, faculty, and patrons.

The agreement, which marks the first OSO/UPSO (University Press Scholarship Online) collaboration between VIVA and OUP, provides “all-in public institutions” with perpetual access for all twenty OSO subjects and any new titles to be published between February 2015 and January 2016. VIVA includes thirty-nine public members (four-year universities and community colleges) and six public, educational, and research institutions.

“We are proud to partner with VIVA on this statewide purchase of high quality, peer-reviewed content available through Oxford's University Press Scholarship Online platform," said Rebecca Seger, Senior Director of Institutional Sales for Oxford University Press. "This is our first OSO collaboration with VIVA and we look forward to working with all VIVA members on free tailored OSO webinars starting in May.”

“Despite a year of serious budget cuts, we are delighted to be able to provide the Oxford Scholarship Online frontlist of e-books for 2015 to all thirty-nine of our VIVA public colleges and universities through a cooperative cost-sharing arrangement.  In addition, three of our nonprofit independent colleges and universities are participating with local funds,” said Kathy Perry, VIVA Director.

YBP Library Services will provide the collection management, duplication control, and invoicing services for the e-books. “YBP is honored to have been selected as a partner to VIVA for the purchase of the Oxford Scholarship Online collection. YBP is committed to deliver the services that support the management of selection and acquisition of the OSO content to VIVA and the member institutions,” stated Mark Kendall, Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations at YBP.
