Oxford's University Press Scholarship Online (UPSO) to Add Content from Two More Presses, Bringing Total to Twenty Presses

Released on April 9, 2015

New York, NY—Oxford University Press (OUP) is pleased to announce that The University of Minnesota Press will join University Press Scholarship Online (UPSO) in August 2015.  The Minnesota Scholarship Online (tentatively called MPSO) site will go live with 389 titles across a broad range of subject areas.

“We’ve admired Oxford Scholarship Online and University Press Scholarship Online from its launch in 2003 and have heard nothing but praise for it from librarians, scholars, and fellow publishers.  Thus, we’re very excited at this new partnership,” said Doug Armato, Director, University of Minnesota Press.  “Minnesota’s highly interdisciplinary list interfaces with a wide array of academic fields in the humanities, social sciences, and the natural and physical sciences and being a part of Oxford's rapidly-expanding on-line research library presents an opportunity to build even more dynamic linkages across a diverse body of scholarship and scholarly communities worldwide."

Columbia University Press will also be joining University Press Scholarship Online (UPSO) in November 2015.  The Columbia Scholarship Online site will go live with approximately 400 titles across the humanities and social sciences.

"We too are delighted to join University Press Scholarship Online.  This is the natural next step for Columbia University Press to make our books more widely available to scholars.  OUP has created an outstanding platform for discovering the best research available, and this partnership will enable us to join many esteemed university press peers and to expand UPSO's holdings with our list,” said Jennifer Crewe, President and Director, Columbia University Press

“We are very pleased to have two of the top university presses in the US join UPSO in the month ahead.  The University of Minnesota Press has long had one of the most varied and unpredictable publishing programs among university presses.  The pleasure of reading through a Minnesota catalog is that you never know what you might find, whether its long-established theory list and its effervescent program in American Studies or its publishing around the ever-influential Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) or even Goodnight Loon, a Northwoods retelling of the children’s classic,” noted Niko Pfund, President, OUP USA.  “And with a list that features scholars from Jeffrey Sachs to Julia Kristeva, from social work to science, Columbia University Press boasts an unfailingly interesting publishing program that is never lacking for surprises.  With a history steeped both in tradition—as in its respected reference program—and innovation—in the form of such groundbreaking initiatives as Columbia International Affairs Online—the press offers up an impressively diverse menu of scholarship to researchers and general readers alike.  We are thrilled to be joining forces with both presses and to assist them in reaching as wide an audience as possible with their diverse publications.”
