Personal Subscriptions Help


First use the online catalogue to find the online product and subscription length you want. Click on the "ADD TO BASKET" button to add the subscription to your electronic shopping basket. You will have the opportunity to change your mind and discard the subscription later. If you wish to proceed with the purchase as stated, click on the "Proceed" button.

To use our on-line ordering system you will need to register with our site. If you have not used the service before you can register at this stage. Otherwise use your email address and password to log-on, you will then be presented with the contact details we currently hold for you. You may amend these by over-typing them. You will then be shown the amount that will be charged to your card, including VAT (where applicable) before being prompted to enter your credit/debit card details.  Only when you click on "Pay Now" will the order be placed and the amount charged to your card.


Item availability

Products not listed in the online catalogue cannot be ordered online. Please contact our Online Support team to enquire on availability of a resource and place a subscription or call us on +44 (0)1865 353979 during the hours of 9.00am - 5.00pm GMT from Monday to Friday.

Subscribing offline

Orders can be placed over the telephone on +44(0)1865 353979. The Online Support team are available to take your telephone order from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (UK time). (An answer-phone service is available outside of office hours. Please be sure to leave a contact name and number so that we can get back to you).
In order to process your order, please provide us with the following information:

Your full name
Your full postal address
Your email address and contact telephone number
Your credit or debit card details (card type, number, start and expiry date, also the card billing address if this is different from your postal address)

Please also tell us which product or products you wish to subscribe to and which subscription period you require.

Once your order has been processed you will receive a confirmation email from the Online Support team.

Country list

If you wish to order an Online Subscription and you are within North or South America please visit our US site.  Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer subscriptions within the following countries:

Most of our online resources can be subscribed to as an individual. If you find a resource that does not offer a personal subscription option it may be that you can subscribe to this directly. For more information please contact us at

Credit cards

We accept VISA, MasterCard, Switch/Maestro and Electron debit and credit cards.

Credit card security

Many banks are now introducing an extra level of security for online purchases called 3D- Secure. This aims to reduce the opportunity for fraud in online transactions. During the check-out process, you may be asked by your bank either to register or, if you already have registered, to provide a password or a second PIN. You will find this happening as you use other online stores. Mastercard call this 'Mastercard SecureCode' and VISA call it 'Verified by Visa'.

Order confirmation

Once you have completed your online purchase, you'll be sent an email message with your login details. Please keep this email safe.

Starting your subscription

As soon as your online order has been completed and you have received the confirmation email you will be able to access your subscription.

Refund policy

This is dependent on a number of factors, such as how long ago you purchased. Details of our refunds policy can be found here.


At present, the only language in which you can conclude a contract with us over the website is English.

Author / contributor discount

If you have been supplied with a discount code you can use this at the time of purchase. Please contact our Online Support team for further advice. If you are a DNB contributor please state this in your email.

Trade customers

It is not possible for us to provide trade discounts via our Online Shop at this time.

Institutional pricing and ordering

Prices for institutions are dependent on the size and type of your institution, or the number of concurrent users. Institutional subscribers may register for a quotation and/or free trial here.

Sharing your personal subscription

It is against the terms and conditions of your purchase to share your subscription or login details with others.

Gift subscriptions

For gift subscriptions or to arrange a subscription on behalf of another user please contact our Customer Services team.

Start dates

All subscriptions will start on the day the order was placed. It is not possibly to specify a date in the future. Simply revisit the shop on the day you wish your subscription to start. If you are renewing an existing subscription the start date will automatically apply from the end of your current subscription period.


With the exception of Oxford Dictionaries, none of the subscriptions options we provide will auto-renew. For subscriptions that do not automatically renew you will receive a reminder to alert you that your access will expire soon.


Access to individual subscriptions is via username and password. Once you have received confirmation of your purchase, you can use your username and password to access your subscription from any suitable computer or mobile device where there is access to the internet.

Downloading content

You cannot download the content from an online product.  Subscriptions are for online access only although some content may be downloadable.

Change details

It is possible to change your credentials after you have set them up. When you register with the Online Shop your username automatically defaults to the email address and will be the username you also use to access your subscriptions. You can update your login at any time by going here. You can also change your password at any point by logging in to your shop account and editing your address details.
If you have subscribed over the telephone you will need to contact us in order to amend your details.
