Where is my order

If the item is in stock it will be delivered within 10 days for destinations in the US. Shipping via UPS Mail takes 2-8 weeks (depending on your location) once the order has shipped from our warehouse.

If after this time you have still not received your order, contact our Customer Service Department quoting your Order Number.

Buying online

The product catalogue on this website covers all of OUP's range of titles, including books, electronic products, and printed music, except for English Language Teaching and Oxford Education books and products, and selected items which are supplied free of charge.

Payment Options

Customers in most countries can order online using a credit card. Currently we accept VISA, Mastercard, and American Express.

Charging your credit card

Your card will automatically be pre-authorized by your card provider, and charged as soon as your order is despatched. This means that if you place an order for a product that is not currently in stock, we will wait until we have stock that we can send you before charging your card.

Item availability

If the title you wish to order is not currently in stock at our warehouse, you will see a message below the Add to Cart button on the catalogue page for that title. You can then either place an order that will be shipped once it is in stock again, or you can request to be notified by email when the title has published or is back in stock.

Backorders and Pre-Orders

We will place orders on back order for books not yet published or out of stock. Customers providing a valid credit card number will be charged only when the books ordered are shipped. 

Please note that prices for not yet published titles are tentative and final pricing is determined at publication.

Order confirmation

After you have completed your online purchase, we will send you an email confirming your order.

When contacting us about an order please include the order number to help us find your details quickly.

Promotion codes

Many promotion codes will be applied to your order automatically when you follow a link from outside our website, for instance in an email marketing message, or when you click on an offer on our site.

However, if you have been given a promotion code, you will also have a chance to enter the code during the checkout process, when we ask you for your payment information.

Generally, only one promotion code can be redeemed with any purchase. If you have more than one promotion code in your browser session, you will normally see the discount of the highest value applied. If you want a different promotion code to be applied, you will need to clear your cookies.

* We are able to accept new business from Ukraine, pending sanctions checks. Transactions in Ukraine are being reviewed to ensure that OUP meets its international and internal sanctions obligations.

Working with Research 4 Life (R4L), we have made access to OUP's full journals collection and all online books included in OUP's Developing Countries programme freely available to institutions and non-profit organizations in Ukraine.

Printed to order titles

Due to advances in printing technology, we are now able to keep many books in print which, in the past, would have had to go out of print due to the limitations and costs of traditional printing methods. These titles are described as "Printed to Order" (they may also be described as "Manufactured on Demand" or "Print on Demand").

Oxford University Press was one of the first publishers to explore printing on demand, and now has an active programme of several thousand titles. This allows us to guarantee the availability of a wide range of scholarly titles for the foreseeable future.

The process relies on the use of digital technology to hold and reproduce files and enhanced order-processing techniques to manage customer orders. Digital files are held for every title in the programme and physical books are only printed and shipped when we receive the order. As a result, orders for printed-to-order titles may take a few days longer to arrive.

Wholesale and Retail Orders
