Transgressing Boundaries offers interdisciplinary perspectives on a variety of political phenomena in black communities, including--but not limited to--such important and disputed topics as gender, class, sexuality, and popular culture. The series targets innovative, cutting-edge work that tackles the hard and complicated questions of black political life. Volumes in the series contribute to a greater theoretical understanding of black communities; challenge and transform disciplinary perspectives on black political life; incorporate and expand upon new frameworks for exploring black politics and black communities; and highlight the work of innovative researchers long neglected in traditional disciplines. The series addresses the complex and often troubling realities of black life in the United States and throughout the diaspora; facilitates greater discussion and research across disciplines on the topic of black political life; and reaches an audience beyond the academy, informing political struggles and personal discussions focused on the condition of black people.
