Oxford Studies in Ancient Philosophy is a volume of original articles on all aspects of ancient philosophy. The articles may be of substantial length, and include critical notices of major books.

The first volume of OSAP was published in 1983. The founding editor was Julia Annas, who was in charge till 1992; ten annual volumes were published under her editorship, and three supplementary volumes. C. C. W. Taylor was then editor from 1993 to 1998 and edited six volumes. David Sedley took over in 1998, and edited eighteen volumes, up to volume 34. Since 2000 OSAP has been published twice yearly, in summer and winter, in both cloth and paperback. Brad Inwood took over as editor in 2007, and Victor Caston in 2015.

Contributions should be sent to the Editor, Professor Victor Caston, Professor of Philosophy and Classical Studies, University of Michigan: oxfordstudies@umich.edu

"'Have you seen the latest OSAP?' is what scholars of ancient philosophy say to each other when they meet in corridors or on coffee breaks. Whether you work on Plato or Aristotle, on Presocratics or sophists, on Stoics, Epicureans, or Sceptics, on Roman philosophers or Greek Neoplatonists, you are liable to find OSAP articles now dominant in the bibliography of much serious published work in your particular subject: not safe to miss." - Malcolm Schofield, Cambridge University

"OSAP was founded to provide a place for long pieces on major issues in ancient philosophy. In the years since, it has fulfilled this role with great success, over and over again publishing groundbreaking papers on what seemed to be familiar topics and others surveying new ground to break. It represents brilliantly the vigour—and the increasingly broad scope—of scholarship in ancient philosophy, and shows us all how the subject should flourish." - M.M. McCabe, King's College London

"The serial Oxford Studies in Ancient Philosophy (OSAP) is fairly regarded as the leading venue for publication in ancient philosophy. It is where one looks to find the state-of-the-art. That the serial, which presents itself more as an anthology than as a journal, has traditionally allowed space for lengthier studies, has tended only to add to its prestige; it is as if OSAP thus declares that, since it allows as much space as the merits of the subject require, it can be more entirely devoted to the best and most serious scholarship." - Michael Pakaluk, Bryn Mawr Reviews

"OSAP continues to flourish as a source for outstanding scholarly papers on topics in ancient philosophy. It also continues to be the only source for papers of substantial length in this area. The shift to publishing not once but twice yearly (initiated ... with volume XVIII) has not caused even the slightest reduction in philosophical quality." - John E. Sisko, Notre Dame Philosophical Reviews

"OSAP is to be commended for its editorial strategy and welcomed for the high quality of its contents." - Lindsay Judson, Times Literary Supplement

"One of the many good things about Oxford Studies in Ancient Philosophy is the frequent meatiness of its offerings. Unlike many other journals, OSAP is not worried about length, only quality ... the series as a whole is a must for any library and many individuals: we certainly get our money's worth." - Robin Waterfield, Heythrop Journal
