Spinoza | Philosopher of the Month | April 2021

Benedict Baruch (de) Spinoza is our Philosopher of the Month this April.

Spinoza (1632-77) was a Dutch-born Jewish philosopher. He was one of the great early thinkers of the Enlightenment, though his ideas were considered very radical during his time and led to him being excommunicated from the Jewish community in Amsterdam. Spinoza's Ethics, which was published posthumously, is widely considered to be his most important work, though he also wrote extensively on metaphysics, epistemology, political philosophy, and many other areas.

'Philosopher of the Month' is a monthly series exploring the life, works, and key philosophies of some of the world's most influential thinkers.
