Welcome to the companion web site for Chances and Choices: Exploring the Impact of Music Education. Included on this site are supplemental materials to aid in understand and interpreting the life history summaries included in the book. Please use the links at the left to view the coding system for Stephanie Pitts' survey, summary of initial findings, and a complete listing of the profiles of all respondents to better frame their experiences as quoted in the book.
Readers are also invited to contribute their own musical life histories through an online forum hosted at the University of Sheffield, which is intended to form the next phase of this research. Perspectives from all backgrounds—musical, cultural and geographical—are warmly welcomed, and it is hoped that this online collection of life histories will become a resource for all researchers and practitioners with an interest in the impact of music education.
