China's Contemporary Diplomacy
Ye Zicheng and Zhang Qingmin
This chapter discusses some important trends and developments in China's diplomacy after the end of the Cold War. The major changes include China's proactive multilateral diplomacy and engagement with international society, a restructured, omni-directional Chinese diplomatic structure, increasingly broad diplomatic practices, and expanded channels of external diplomatic involvement. These changes have not only made China an important player on the world stage, but shaped China's strategic thinking and diplomatic practice. These trends will continue as China rises.
