Dear Reader:

Welcome to the companion website for Flowing Tides: History and Memory in an Irish Soundscape. This website contains archival materials that cannot be made available in the hard copy version of the book. The materials showcase musicians, storytellers, teachers, dancers, historical instruments, and music-related events in Clare and its hinterland since the early nineteenth century. Among its key elements are rare unpublished field recordings of Clare masters, Willie Clancy and Micho Russell collected in the period 1958-1975. The website also contains historic photographs, drawn mainly from the ethnographic fieldwork of the author in Clare and among Clare diasporic communities in Britain and North America since the 1970s. It includes a comprehensive videography of Clare music and culture, subdivided under chapter headings from the text, which can be accessed externally.

If you wish to communicate with the author, please feel free to do so through his website: www.drgearoid.com
