About the Editors

Eric F. Clarke is Heather Professor of Music at the University of Oxford, and a Professorial Fellow of Wadham College. Among other publications within the psychology of music and musicology he is the author of Ways of Listening (2005), co-author of Music and Mind in Everyday Life (2010) and co-editor of Music and Consciousness (2011). He was Associate Director of the AHRC Research Centre for Musical Performance as Creative Practice (2009-14), and is a Fellow of the British Academy.

Mark Doffman is Leverhulme Early Career Research Fellow in the Faculty of Music at the University of Oxford, and Susan and George Brownlee Junior Research Fellow at Linacre College, Oxford. His research interests lie around psycho-social aspects of musical performance and he has published work on jazz performance, musical creativity and social interaction. He is currently working on a study of musical timing across genres, and continues to perform regularly as a jazz drummer.
