Dr. John D. Otis is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at Boston University. He is the Director of Medical Psychology at Boston University School of Medicine, and the Director of Pain Management Psychology Services at the VA Boston Healthcare System. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Florida, specializing in the assessment and treatment of chronic pain. He currently has several funded research projects, including a research study investigating the efficacy of CBT for patients with painful diabetic neuropathy and a grant investigating the development of an integrated treatment for patients with comorbid chronic pain and posttraumatic stress disorder. Dr. Otis has published numerous scholarly articles and book chapters about pain throughout the lifespan, with a focus on the development of innovative approaches to pain management tailored to specialized patient populations.
