About the Author

In pioneering remarkably deep and revelatory studies of modern popular music, including two books for Oxford University Press on the music of the Beatles (The Beatles as Musicians: Revolver through the Anthology and The Beatles as Musicians: The Quarry Men through Rubber Soul) Walter Everett has informed his lifelong interest in rock music with the tools and questioning nature of the musicologist and music theorist. He has taught various courses, given numerous public talks, and published many scholarly essays on rock topics since 1981. He lives with his wife, violinist Barbara Sturgis-Everett, and their sons John and Tim.
