Welcome to the companion website for Competency in Generalist Practice: A Theory and Evidence-Based Guide to Decision-Making. This site is intended to aid instructors in their use of the text by providing downloadable PowerPoint lectures for each chapter. Since the text is intended for students in their first-year placement, two model syllabi have been prepared: one for the foundation MSW year (15 sessions per semester) and one for senior BSW undergrads (30 sessions/semester). A test bank of objective questions (multiple choice, matching, fill-in-the-blank, true/false, short answer, and short essay) is included for each chapter, along with suggested assignments and in-class exercises. Professors will want to share with their students the course and chapter objectives supplied here, as well as the list of web links for a host of online resources including audio-visual materials, games and simulations, reading materials, data, organizations, etc., which have all been carefully chosen to complement the text.
The aim of this book is to promote competency in social work practice by way of a logical, easy-to-follow format anchored by a unique decision tree. I hope that you find this companion site makes that task even easier.-- Elizabeth Moore Plionis
