Wittgenstein's Nachlass on CD-ROM

  • PC with minimum Pentium class processor
  • 32MB RAM
  • 190MB hard-disk space
  • Minimum 16-bit (64K, High Colour) with 800 x 600 screen resolution
  • 4 speed CD-ROM drive
  • Windows 98SE, Me, 2000

1. Configure the Nachlass software to view the images from the hard disk

Follow the steps below:
  1. Copy the images from all the image CDs to a folder called P on the hard disk, e.g. C:\P. All the images must be in one folder only, i.e. no subfolders should be found in C:\P
  2. Double-click on the file EXEC2.INI, usually found in the C:\WINDOWS folder. Amend the line starting ImagePath= to say ImagePath=C:\P\

2. Fonts appear unreadable, in Greek or as boxes

To correct this problem delete the Nachlass fonts (list shown below) from the computer using the FONTS Control panel. Check also that none of these fonts are found in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder, deleting them if necessary. Restart the computer and reinstall the fonts manually from the installation CD using the FONTS control panel.
  • arioup.ttf
  • ariboup.ttf
  • aribioup.ttf
  • aritoup.ttf
  • planoup.ttf

  • waboup.ttf

3. Error message - “Run time error 482” or “object-defined error”

This error message is generated when printing from InfoVIEW when a printer is not installed on the system.

4. Error message - “Run time error 6 Overflow”

This error message is generated when attempting to open a file manually in InfoVIEW followed by pressing the OK or CANCEL buttons without having selected an image.

5. Error message - “IVLITE caused GPF in module ACCUGLD5.DLL”

The above error message occurs when running the Nachlass on Windows XP. The IVLITE program is not Windows XP compatible and there are no upgrades available for this software. However, it is possible to redirect the Nachlass to use a different viewer. To redirect the Nachlass to use Internet Explorer, follow the steps below.
