Collaboration

In November 2017, a team from our OUP China-Hong Kong office collaborated with NGO Hans Anderson Club (HAC) on a local storytelling workshop to promote reading and learning to children.

HAC supports the development of underprivileged children through storytelling, and is named after writer Hans Christian Andersen, marking the Club’s focus on the wellbeing of young people.

Our staff worked with a group aged 4-7 years old, telling stories and helping with arts and crafts activities, and the children put on a mini performance for their visitors. Carol Sham, OUP General Sales Manager, commented: ‘both our colleagues and the children were immersed in the show and handicraft. I feel blessed that I was one of the voluntary helpers in the event.’

Over the last few decades, HAC has launched a range of services to meet the need of families, including a cyber learning centre that enabled people living in Tai O to use computers as a means to connect to the outside world.
