Google’s Giles Spackman has been appointed Group Finance Director at Oxford University Press (OUP).
Spackman, who is currently Senior Finance Director, Global Business Organization, at Google Inc., has gained extensive experience in the media and digital industries. He has held CFO and strategic leadership roles at Time Inc., Pearson, and AOL, and has been with Google since 2009.
He will join OUP in December 2013, working from OUP’s head office in Oxford.
Nigel Portwood, CEO of OUP, said of the appointment: “Giles has a fantastic range of skills and experience that means he is superbly qualified to take this important role at OUP. His deep understanding of the media industry and the impact of digital trends, along with his leadership of finance functions in growth companies, means that Giles will be able to make a major contribution towards OUP’s future success in pursuit of its educational and academic mission.”
