10 June 2016

In June OUP announced a minority investment in Emerge Venture Lab Ltd, the company behind Emerge Education, extending the existing two-year relationship with the EdTech start-up accelerator.

The Emerge Education accelerator programme offers ambitious EdTech start-ups the chance to gain expertise, customers and investment as they look to take their ventures to the next level.

Chris Bromley, Group Strategy Development Director at OUP, said: “We’re really excited about extending our relationship with Emerge. The agility and technical competence of the start-ups that Emerge supports and OUP’s global reach, content, and brand is a powerful combination. Our focus on the EdTech market enables us to develop innovative products and services that improve the lives of teachers and learners globally, disrupting education for the better.”

Jan Matern, CEO, Emerge Education, commented: “Emerge Education's mission is to grow start-ups aiming to improve educational outcomes worldwide. We are thrilled to welcome OUP into our company as investors and work with them to achieve this goal.”
