Help with applying

If you require any help with applying for a position based in Oxford or Kettering please contact the recruiter listed on the advert.

What we expect in a CV

The CV should present a brief account of your career. It should present your knowledge, experience, skills and competencies. Ideally a CV should be no longer than two sides of A4.

A CV needs to include enough information for the recruiter to decide whether you are likely to be a suitable candidate, so you should include:

  • Contact details - name, address, phone number, email address;
  • Education - educational and/or professional qualifications, dates and names of institutions
  • Skills and competencies - for example: ability to work in a team, manage customers, specific IT skills, level of responsibility;
  • Work experiences - periods of paid or unpaid work need to be accounted for, including dates, job titles and company names, and responsibilities and tasks within each role

Cover Letters

A cover letter is an opportunity to highlight what's in your CV and to provide real examples to support your ability to do the job. It should summarise what's in your CV, by emphasising your key strengths in relation to the job.

A cover letter should make it clear which job you're applying for and you should include information to explain why you are interested in the role and how you meet the criteria stated in the vacancy advertised. This is an opportunity to present your relevant abilities, skills and experience in relation to the vacancy to which you are applying.
